**October 1 is a no work permitted day during Sukkot. This email was pre-scheduled to send.**
Service attendance and recordings of blessings One of the best ways to feel confident and prepared for leading Saturday morning services/bar or bat mitzvah is by watching others lead. It is suggested that our Kinder/1st graders attend 1 service over the course of the year, 2nd grade attends 2 services, 3rd grade attends 3 services, and so on. These can be attended virtually, at other synagogues, at a classmate's bar/bat mitzvah, at one of our grade level Shabbats, etc.

Kitah Gan (Kindergarten) Shana Tovah. Class Resumes October 15!
Kitah Alef (First Grade) Shana Tovah. Class Resumes October 15!
Kitah Bet (Second Grade) Shana Tovah. Class Resumes October 15!
Kitah Gimel (Third Grade) Wednesday- Hello Everyone, Wednesday was all about the upcoming Jewish holiday, Sukkot. We reviewed the history and significance of Sukkot to the Jewish people. We cut out and colored Lulav & Etrog sets, learning the Hebrew and English names for the Four Species. We learned and recited the blessing for the Lulav and Etrog followed by waving the lulav and etrog in six directions three times. After a short break outside, we made edible Sukkahs using graham crackers for walls, pretzels and parsley for the rooftop, and a multitude of colorful candies (portraying fruit) to hang inside the sukkah. This was obviously a very enjoyable activity for the entire class! Chag Sukkot Sameach
Kitah Dalet (Fourth Grade) Wednesday from Morah Merav- We continue our work with the Aleph-Bet. Some are mastering the aleph bet board, others are getting more and more comfortable with the letters. Keep practicing at home. We have also started challenging everyone’s Hebrew reading skills with flashcards. After our recess one of our students, Saul read us all the book “The Very Best Sukkah: A Story From Uganda by Nambi, Shoshana and Yogev, Moran. He did a great job reading and sharing all the picture with the class. Saul also shared stories and a picture with us about his Ugandan friend. It was a special day. We are looking forward to celebrating Sukkot next week at Har Shalom.
Kitah Hay (Fifth Grade) Wednesday from Morah Lauren- Another busy Hebrew Wednesday! The students did an amazing job continuing to master those letters and vowels. Next week, we will celebrate Sukkot and then we will begin digging deal into the Shema and V'ahavta.
Kitah Vav (Sixth Grade) Wednesday from Morah Leah- We gathered for Tefillah (prayer) session in the sanctuary as a school. After we moved to the classroom where we began our Hebrew language book learning with review of the vocabulary from the Amidah. We listened to a version of Adonai S’fatai - the opening lines of the Amidah prayer that we don’t usually hear. After our break we spent some time thinking about closing 5783 and how each of us wants to begin anew in 5784. Ask your student about three wishes they have for your family, school or community. Shavua Tov!
Kitah Zayin (Seventh Grade) Wednesday from Rabbi Finestone- Wednesday night was mitzvah night for the seventh graders. They cut branches for the Sukkah's roof, helped build the walls, and then later completed the roof with the branches. They then turned their attention to an environmental mitzvah, and helped break down and clear out all recyclable materials from the table construction. They did so with great cooperation among each other and sweetness in attitude. They have earned a Wednesday night party, to be celebrated after the fall holidays. I was so proud of all of them!
