From Our Teachers
Kitah Gimmel (Third Grade) Wednesday from Morah Robin- What an amazing evening!!!!! Kitah Gimmel delivered gift baskets to six different senior Har Shalom members throughout Fort Collins. The students presented the gift baskets to the senior citizens and then sang songs to them. I could see the gratitude in the recipients lit up faces! What a mitzvah!!! Thank you to Alison Herman for helping to drive the students.
Kitah Dalet (Fourth Grade) Wednesday from Morah Shoshanna and Morah Debbie who subbed for Morah Sophie- We prepared 6 batches of Rice Krispy treats (2 plain, 2 with sprinkles, and 2 with M&Ms) for the class to sell at their bake sale. The bake sale will be on the last day of Sunday school, May 19, and all proceeds will support the Israeli Defense Forces. Also, the students read the entire recipe in Hebrew! WOW!
As our Mitzvah project, our class is having a bake sale on the last day of school! The sale will take place during school pick-up at noon on Sunday May 19. If you are able to make something at home to sell at the bake sale, that would be great. Please bring it in the morning of Sunday May 19. We will also be making something together as a class during HSRS on Wednesday.
Kitah Hay (Fifth Grade) Wednesday from Morah Lauren- Kita Hay studied vocabulary in groups reviewing the last two years of vocabulary. We then had an ice cream party and played Apples to Apples Jewish version.
Kitah Vav (Sixth Grade) Wednesday from Morah Leah- Wednesday night was a filled with questions as we took a peek into Gematria - the assignation of numbers to letters which can be done to many languages including Hebrew. Originally from the early 200 CE this view of learning can provide deeper insight into the Torah and other texts. It can also be used to justify bad actions. Ask your student to share more. We used Gematria assigned to Hebrew letters to look at how TzitTzit are tied on a talit. We also understood it enough to learn about the Golem of Prague. We did begin the night by reviewing prayer and Hebrew language lessons.
Kitah Zayin (Seventh Grade) Wednesday from Rabbi Finestone- Since this was the last hour of classroom teaching, we played "stump the rabbi," where the students ask questions about Jewish History, the Torah, or Jewish life in an attempt to stump me. They asked GREAT questions, covering a large range of topics, but no one stumped the rabbi....at least not yet! This is a great group of students, who always ask amazing questions. I loved loved loved being their teacher this year!

News from Tefillah Our final formal Wednesday was spent singing our favorites from the Kabbalat Shabbat Service (Friday evening) and the Saturday Morning Services. Tefillah Josh has taken our prayer to a whole new level. Josh, thank you so much for the love of Torah that you have brought to our school.
